Typography 1

A foundational course focused on visual research into typography in everyday life. The curriculum challenged me to analyze, organize, and understand the functional roles of different typefaces across various communication platforms.

Zine Book Design Project
A complex typographic assignment requiring the creation of a complete Zine Book. The key challenge was to effectively utilize and manage 25 distinct typefaces, focusing on establishing clear hierarchy, rhythm, and visual cohesion across the entire publication.

Form/Counterform Design Project
An exercise centered on the visual contrast between serif and sans serif typefaces. The goal was to combine the two selected fonts by precisely controlling typographic elements like weight, scale, and shape to explore the form/counterform relationship.

Expressive Type Project
A conceptual assignment focused on the direct relationship between a word and its visual context. The challenge was to utilize and manipulate typographic elements—including scale, proportion, and weight—to visually and emotionally express the word's meaning on the page.
